Interval language

Isochrony is the postulated rhythmic division of time into equal portions by a language. Rhythm is an aspect of prosody, others being intonation, stress, and tempo of speech. Three alternative ways in which a language can divide time are postulated: 1. The duration of every syllable is equal (syllable-timed); 2. The duration of every mora is equal (mora-timed). An open interval does not include its endpoints, and is indicated with parentheses. For example, (0, 1) means greater than 0 and less than 1. This means (0, 1) = {x 0 < x < 1}. This interval can also be denoted by ]0, 1[, see below. A closed interval is an interval which includes all its limit points, and is denoted with square brackets. For example, [0, 1] means greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to 1. Webinterval definition: 1. a period between two events or times: 2. the space between two points: 3. a short period….
