Be warned that if you have hot loaded 40S&W Ammo ( or compromised brass ), you can potentially blowout the back of the case wall where it is not supported. I have had full 10mm do this in my competition days in my 1911 10mm race guns from compromised brass. It is not fun.

WebMar 19, 2024 · Considering headspace, it's similar to shooting .38 Special in a .357 Magnum revolver, but of course, these are not revolvers, and the chamber/barrel are designed differently, so I personally wouldn't feel 100% safe shooting .40 from a 10mm on a regular basis without a conversion barrel. If you handload try this--load 40 long IE the same length as a 10mm load. I've done this in a G29 w/14.5#9/180 coated. Best to use 180gr and heavier so there is enough bullet length to seat.
